Basics of SEO

What is an SEO? SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. With good traffic, most sites can be successful with what they have or offer for their visitor. Most Webmaster does the SEO to promote their websites, blogs and other sites on the internet. So, what are the basics of the SEO?

Getting Indexed

Getting Indexed by a search engine is very important. Getting Indexed means that a search engine have bookmarked or save your website in their database. This is where the search engines get their SERP or Search Engine Result Page and display it to your screen when you search.

Be at the Top

Once your website is indexed, the next step you need to do is to make your site to the top of the SERP or Search Engine Result Page. How can anybody get their website or blog get into the top of the SERP? The Answer is Link Building or OPTIMIZATION, Other Words “SEO or Search Engine Optimization”. There are many steps on how to optimize your Website. I will only teach you the basics. You can either do the Directory submission, Forum Posting, Forum Signature Linking, Online Bookmarking, Blog Commenting, Article submission, and Reciprocal Linking. Ok, Nuf said.

I read somewhere that search engines are kinda partial to .com sites rather than free-hosted sites. don't know if it's true pero it got me thinking of getting my domain name.

Regarding monaco's comment, what I have experienced is that certain free blog hosts carry a high prestige in some search engine's eyes and setting up a blog with them will allow us to ride on their coat tails.

blogger is one such example.
